Recently, the finals of the “2022 National Disruptive Technology Innovation Competition”, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), undertaken by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of MOST, and co-organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science & Technology and the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, kicked off in Hangzhou. Before the competition, Vice Minister Wu Zhaohui of the MOST delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Jia Jingdun, Director of the Torch Center of the MOST, Jiang Baogui, Deputy Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Provincial Government, Pan Yunhe, Gao Xiang, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the scene and gave wonderful reports.

Professor Song's research achievement "Key Technology of CO2 Low-temperature Cryogenic Phase Change Capture" stood out from 2,800 projects. After passing the audition, preliminary competition and field competition selection, they successfully entered the finals of the competition, and finally won the highest award of the competition, the "Outstanding Award". The core technology was successfully selected into the national research and development plan subversive technology innovation key special project candidate library.

This achievement focuses on the bottlenecks of conventional CO2 capture technology under the national carbon-neutrality strategy. Through the hybrid of membrane and cryogenic process, and the development of key materials, the high-efficiency and low-energy consumption capture and utilization of CO2 have been realized. This achievement provides strong support for the development of CO2 capture, utilization and storage technology (CCUS), and provides a new option for carbon reduction and sequestration in key carbon emission industries and fields in my country.
This competition covers integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, future networks and communications, biotechnology, new materials, green technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, and interdisciplinary disciplines and other key national technology development fields. Since its launch in July 2022, it has attracted more than 2,800 projects from famous universities, well-known scientific research institutes, and industry-leading companies across the country to sign up for the competition. After the preliminary screening of projects and competition, the 157 projects shortlisted for the finals met in Hangzhou for a peak duel. In the end, a total of 74 projects won the winning project award in the finals.
